Next of Kyn No ~ 5

2011 Red Blend from Cumulus Vyd

Shipped in March 2015. This wine was offered in May of 2014 via email.

This is the fifth Next of Kyn bottling. It is a blend of 42% Syrah, 32% Grenache, 16% Mourvedre, 7% Petite Sirah, and 3% Touriga Nacional, with 8% whole clusters. The wine spent 30 months in French oak barrels, 45% of which was new. Like all the previous Next of Kyn wines, this wine was sold to the Next of Kyn mailing list and shipped in specially designed wooden boxes, each one containing 3 bottles and 1 magnum. About 600 such boxes were made in this vintage.

Also, one nine (9) liter bottle was made and sold for charity. See below.

One Nine Liter Bottle

This unique bottling was made for the charity website If Only. This is the 2nd year such a large bottle was made. A similar 9-liter bottle was made of the 2010 Next of Kyn. The specific charity supported by the donation of $8000 required to purchase this bottle from If Only is Cedars-Sinai's Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.
