Decanting for the Italian Wine & Food Extravaganza
at 677 Prime, Albany, NY, 7/14/2018

Our friends Larry and Margie Kirsch invited us to this spectacular dinner with an Italian theme and Italian wines mostly from Piedmont. They took over the entire upstairs at 677 Prime and had special foods brought up from Arthur Avenue in the Bronx.

Jared and I met Larry at the restaurant around 1pm to decant the wines. Here you will find photos and some description of our decanting adventures.

As always, Larry arrived in style:

Jared decanting the 1989 Produttori del Barbaresco magnums:

We needed two decanters for each magnum of 1989 Produttori del Barbaresco
single-vineyard Barbaresco Riserva: Asili, Montestefano, and Rabają:
For much more information on the Produttori, see my Produttori del Barbaresco page.

Now, on to the Gajas:

Yeah Boss, we need more decanters:

Jared snaps a photo of our host and the three decanted magnums of Produttori Barbaresco:

All 12 bottles of Gaja are decanted. Three each of 1997 Barbaresco, 1998 Barbaresco, 1993 Barbaresco Costa Russi, & 1997 Costa Russi.

Jared takes photo of the Gajas. Note the crude implements of decanting:
