2010 Chimère
2010 Châteauneuf du Pape from La Crau Vyd
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape is made by Manfred Krankl
jointly with Vincent and Pascal Maurel (who own and run
Clos Saint-Jean
in Châteauneuf) and
oenologist Philippe Cambie.
It is 95% Mourvedre, 4% Grenache, and less than 1% white Grenache.
The Mourvedre comes from the famed La Crau vineyard.
Four 300-liter barrels were made, which will net little more than 100 cases.
It was bottled entirely in magnums. 380 Magnums to be precise.
It was sold through a separate (from SQN) mailing list, and shipped in November 2012.
A similar wine is planned for 2011, but after that, this wine could come from California.
Each magnum came wrapped in black tissue paper in a wood box:
