2012 Chimère
2012 Châteauneuf du Pape from La Crau Vyd
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape is made by Manfred Krankl
jointly with Vincent and Pascal Maurel (who own and run
Clos Saint-Jean
in Châteauneuf) and
oenologist Philippe Cambie.
It is 93% Mourvedre, 5% Grenache and the rest is white varieties (e.g. white Grenache).
This was aged in two new 300-liter French oak barrels.
The Mourvedre comes from the famed La Crau vineyard.
It was bottled entirely in magnums.
There were fewer than 400 magnums produced, of which only 370 were offered for sale.
It was bottled only in magnums and sold through a separate (from SQN) mailing list.
It was shipped in November 2012.
