- is 100% Pinot Noir (French Clones 777 and 667) from the Arita Hills Vineyard in the Santa Rita Hills.
- The Arita Hills Vineyard is located in the southeast corner of the Santa Rita Hills AVA,
west-southwest of the town of Buellton, right below SQN's Eleven Confessions Estate Vineyard.
- was harvested at 1.19tons/acre (about 18hectoliters/hectare).
- was 100% destemmed and fermented in open top tanks with manual punchdowns.
- was aged in French oak, 70% new.
- was bottled into 462 cases of 750ml bottles on August 15, 2005.
- has a dark red wax capsule and was shipped in crimson tissue paper.
- is one of ten Pinot Noir wines made by SQN, 1996—2005
and the first SQN Pinot Noir from California grapes.
- The name
Covert Fingers
is a reference to the roots of a vine, or more generally
what is going on below the surface that affects the vine.
